Port Harcourt is the fifth largest city located along the Bonny River in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It is the capital of Rivers state with an estimated population of 1,865,000 inhabitants and popularly called the Garden City.
The Port city was created by the British Colonial administration of Nigeria to facilitate the export of coal. Port Harcourt is the chief oil-refining city in Nigeria. It is a major industrial centre with a number of multinational firms as well as other industrial concerns, particularly businesses related to the petroleum industry.
Port Harcourt has tropical wet climate with lengthy and heavy rainy seasons and very short dry seasons; the average temperatures are between 25°C and 28°C throughout the year in the city. There several tourist attractions inducing Point block, (the tallest building in the south-east and South-south geopolitical zones combined), Parks, Tourist beaches, etc.
